COURSE SYLLABUS

Mr. Hennig

DESCRIPTION:  This rigorous course contains the entire curriculum for a college preparatory course. Among the topics included are expressions, equations, functions, rational numbers, linear equations, proportions, graphing, polynomials, factoring and radicals. These concepts will prepare you to take the SAT or ACT math section. I am looking forward to you having a great year. This class is much more rigorous than Geometry.

MATERIALS

Each day you will need the following

You must have a pencil, binder with homework, and Composition book for tool kit notes, scientific calculator and dry erase pen. Anything missing will cost 3 homework points.

HOMEWORK

Homework will be assigned daily.  All work must be done neatly in pencil on graph paper. Have homework ready at the beginning of the period the day it is due. It will be graded daily on a 10-point scale. All homework will be labeled with date, period, section numbers, page numbers and problems. If homework not labeled it will not be graded. You must circle the problem number; show work and either box or highlight the answer. Homework must be done on graph paper.  You can still do the Warm up quiz if you did not do the homework. You will receive 6 points for doing the new section of homework or 5 possible for the review section. All problems must be worked out or at least a good effort attempted.  If work is not shown on any problem it is considered not attempted. You will loose 1 point for every 2 problems not completed. Therefore, you will receive 3 points if you have 6 or more missing problems.

ABSENCES & MAKE-UP WORK

Late homework is accepted if you come in at lunch, use a Barter Chip or before school for help. One lunch equals one assignment. Make-up work after an excused absence is your responsibility and will be accepted for full credit. It must be made up within a week after your return.  If you cut you get a -1 no exceptions. I will check your attendance.  Suspension is not an excused absence, however this work can be handed in with one barter chip per assignment or stay in a lunch. Work missed because of school activities (sports, field trips, etc.) is due upon return. Get work in advance. Missed tests must be made up within two weeks of return; before school at 7:30A.M, and at lunch.  You make arrangements. Your responsibility to get tool kit notes after absence. Late work with help is only accepted 7 days from date of assignment.  Take Home Tests, Mastering Skills or Quizzes will not be accepted late. Put all late work in Bounce box on my desk.
